Christmas Concert 2016
On Saturday, 19th November, an excited group of learners gathered at Edu-Play Early Learning Centre in preparation for the Centre’s first Christmas Concert. After weeks of practicing their performance, all that was left for the children to do was don their respective festive outfits and wait eagerly in their classrooms until the teachers ushered them out. Edu-Play Early Learning Centre, based at 9 Oxford Street, Durbanville, facilitates a comforting and caring environment in which the educational and therapeutic needs of children with special educational requirements can be addressed optimally. In the twelve months since Edu-Play had opened their doors, they had made a profound impact on the local specific needs community with their welcome approach to addressing each learner’s individual potential and strengths and then successfully implementing an educational environment which enables each child to develop to the best of his/her potential. The unique challenges which each of the learners are faced with lent to the occasion a truly joy-filled atmosphere as the children delighted their audience with their performance. While family and friends applauded emotionally after the last song the children instead, as all kids would be, were eager for a somewhat lean but very handsome Santa Claus to take his place on stage and attend to his gift-sharing duties. Each present safely delivered to its rightful recipient, everyone headed over to the kitchen to indulge in some deliciously-prepared boerie rolls. Tummies satisfied, gifts opened, parents smiling with pride and admiration and children basking in the celebration of their hard work…the heart-warming stuff all successful school events are made of.
